WD Green 1TB EAVS, EACS, EADS confusion
There appears to be 3 drives on the market for 1TB green:
WD10EADS – 32MB
WD10EACS – 16MB
WD10EAVS – 8MB
The EAVS (V for Value) are also used in the WD Elements series of external hard drives.
The WD10EADS, newer WD10EACS (WD10EACS-00D6B0) and WD1001FALS (Black) all have 3 platters. The FALS seems much more responsive.
In the wider sense of “WD 1TB Green”, there’s also the old WD10EVCS and the new WD10EVVS drives, both part of the AV-GP series, plus the RE2-GP WD1000FYPS. Goldpelican recently summed it up pretty well (only he’s missing the now more widely available WD10EAVS).
The full product line can be viewed (see link below), but the old WD10EVCS has (recently) been removed.
