Useful Drupal modules
PhpGedView
Submitted by sysop on Mon, 2007-01-29 13:26http://drupal.org/project/phpgedview
A module to integrate the PhpGedView genealogy program (http://www.phpgedview.net/) with Drupal. This module is designed to work with Drupal 4.7 and was tested with PhpGedView version 4. It may work with PGV 3.x, but that has not been tested yet.
Most functionality should now be basically working as of the latest cvs updates. Read the install and readme files carefully for more information. This is a new module, so watch things carefully for now, especially to make sure that privacy settings are honored in the embedded view. I have tested it and it se
Content Construction Kit (CCK)
Submitted by sysop on Mon, 2007-01-29 13:25The Content Construction Kit allows you create content types through the web. A content type is a collection of fields.
The intent of the CCK is to make the creation of custom node types easier.
Several contributed projects provide additional field types and widgets for CCK:
computed field: lets you add a PHP-driven "computed field" to CCK node types
date: creates an ISO or unix timestamp date field
email: validated email field
image field: an image field
link: a URL field
IMCE
Submitted by sysop on Mon, 2007-01-29 13:06http://drupal.org/project/imce
IMCE is an image/file uploader and browser that supports personal directories and quota. It works with Drupal 4.7 or above versions.
IMCE, initially, was implemented for easy uploading images and adding them to TinyMCE. In the development process many features have been added.
It now supports the other most used wysiwyg editor FCKeditor. In addition to these two editors, with the aid of newly implemented Javacript API, IMCE has also support for inline image/file insertion into plain textareas.
Here is the list of features:
4.7 features
no module dependency.
Gallery
Submitted by sysop on Mon, 2007-01-29 13:05http://drupal.org/project/gallery
This module embeds Gallery2 (http://gallery.menalto.com) inside your drupal installation to support photos, videos and other content. There is support for 2 types of image block (can be placed in the sidebar) and a navigation menu, inserting of images into nodes via an input filter, TinyMCE support, syncing of users between the 2 applications, ...
Note that you will need to download and install Gallery2 (http://codex.gallery2.org/index.php/Gallery2:Download) prior to installing this module.
You can see the module in action on Gallery's own website at:
Wishlist Module
Submitted by sysop on Mon, 2007-01-29 12:56http://drupal.org/project/wishlist
http://drupal.org/node/25208
Allows authorized users to submit wishlist nodes to your web site which describe items they would like for a special occasion. Each node can contain links showing other users where to acquire the item, a description, an estimated cost and a count of how many are desired. Other site users can indiciate their interest in purchasing an item from a wishlist. When that happens, everybody can see that somebody purchased the item and duplicated gifts are eliminated (or reduced - the wishlist module does rely on people playing nicely together). You can also flag items as private, in which case only you will be able to see them. This is handy for items you want to remember, but may not want right away.
Directory
Submitted by sysop on Mon, 2007-01-29 12:56http://drupal.org/project/directory
The directory module presents a very simple and lightweight hierarchical 'directory-like' view (vaguely similar to DMOZ, Yahoo, etc.) of nodes that have been assigned to one or more designated taxonomy 'vocabularies' (depending on module configuration). This allows users to drill down on selected content on your Drupal site.
View fully-functional live demos at: RoadCarvin.com, amadorable.com or bunnytrade.com (all running on Drupal 4.7 and latest stable version of this module.)
Development sponsored by Exodus Development.
If you have a site with taxonomies already in place, and/or you are not using the category module, this module may be a simpler approach to hierarchical navigation - just drop it in, configure, and go.
Janode
Submitted by sysop on Mon, 2007-01-29 12:54http://drupal.org/project/janode
This is a node type that allows you to create a library of http://
links to other resources on the Internet. Each node has a title, the
matching url and a description. The node can be allocated to a
taxonomy in the normal way.
You can use Janode to create your own webdirectory. Janode also
periodically checks each http:// link for 404 errors. Any Janodes
with a 404 error are put into a moderation queue for investigation.
Mailhandler
Submitted by sysop on Mon, 2007-01-29 12:54http://drupal.org/project/mailhandler
The Mailhandler module allows registered users to create or edit nodes and comments via email. Authentication is usually based on the From: email address. Users may post taxonomy terms, teasers, and other node parameters using the Commands capability.
SMS Gateway
Submitted by sysop on Mon, 2007-01-29 12:50http://drupal.org/project/smsgateway
This module adds SMS (Short Message Service) texting capabilities to Drupal allowing the sending of messages to and the reception of messages from mobile phones. In itself it provides no user-interface to send or receive messages, just adds functions that can be called to allow other module to send messages and a hook method that allows modules to be informed of received messages.
The current module provides settings, self-test and message tx/rx log pages. This should allow you to set up your account with a provider and test it to ensure that it is working. Any other features would require integration from other modules.
